Theme: “I Have a Dream”

Does your hero/heroine have a dream? Tell us what happens when they try to realise their dream. Make it happy (we like happy), make it sad, make it tragic, make it hilarious but make sure the ending gives the reader that ‘feel-good’ factor.

Maybe your hero/heroine gets a dream during the course of the story? Tell us how they got it, what hoops they jumped through to get it, what befell them until they got it. And again send them off into the blue horizon on a satisfyingly upbeat note.

We are looking for good writing, interesting ideas and a good uplifting finish (in case you missed that bit).

Rules of the Competition

Use 12pt Arial in double spacing. Use one side of the paper only.
Put the title of the story at the top of each page and number the pages.
Entries must be accompanied by an Entry Form – no cover page required. (see item 6.)
Your story should be between 1,000 and 1,500 words.
Weave your story around the theme "I Have a Dream", but do not use this as your title.
The name of the author, or other personal details should not appear on the manuscript.
Entries accepted as a Word document via snail mail, in RTF, txt or PDF formats by email.
If submitting by post ensure you have put sufficient postage on your envelope. We do not pay the excess. So the postman takes it home and reads it instead of us. (Actually, he’s probably not allowed to do this.)
Entries with strong sex, violence or bad language will be consigned to the shredder.
Entry fee is £3.50 for 1 story, £6.00 for two. Pay by UK sterling cheque on a UK bank, by Postal Order or by Credit/Debit Card through the PayPal button below.
Copyright remains with the author.
Winning entries will be published on the WritersReign website for the world to see. Please do not enter unless you accept this condition.
If you require acknowledgement of receipt of postal entries, please enclose a stamped and self-addressed postcard.
